West Park is located in the City of Chicago and had their own police force.  Most of these officers would eventually go to work for the Chicago Police dept.  The department did not have the rank of Chief and was commanded by a Captain.

Note:  The Chicago Railroad Fair was an event organized to celebrate and commemorate 100 years of railroad history west of Chicago, Illinois. It was held in Chicago in 1948 and 1949 along the shore of Lake Michigan, and is often referred to as "the last great railroad fair" with 39 railroad companies participating. The board of directors for the show was a veritable "Who's Who" of railroad company executives.
The Chicago Railroad Fair was structurally organized into several administrative units: executive office, special events, exhibits, operations, pageant, publicity office, and the office of the treasurer. Lenox R. Lohr and his executive officer,
Daniel MacMaster, were empowered to sign all contracts and supervise all aspects of the Fair.

Chicago Police badge issued to William P. Gunther. In 1932 he became a patrolman with the West Chicago Park Police headquartered in Garfield Park.  Hallmarked Meyer & Wenthe Chicago.  In 1958 the three Chicago Park District Police Departments were consolidated with the Chicago Police Department. Officer Gunther was assigned to the Filmore District.  He retired April 1, 1960 and died on July 2, 1960.

Sam “Teets” Battaglia  had an extensive criminal record that included over 12 counts of burglary, robbery, and murder (he was a suspect in seven homicides). He made headlines in 1930 by robbing Mayor William Hale Thonmpson’s wife at gunpoint. He took over $15,000 in jewelry from her and the shield and gun from Chicago Police bodyguard and chauffeur, Officer Peter J. O’Malley.
